NATIONAL AYUSH DAY 25TH OCTOBER | YouFestive

National AYUSH Day 2019:

National AYUSH day will be celebrated on 25th October 2019 in India as celebrated in every year on the occasion of Dhanteras.

Ayurveda is one of the most ancient and well documented medical system periodically relevant in modern era.




The AYUSH stands for A = Ayurveda, Y = Yoga & Naturopathy, U = Unani, S  = Siddha and H = Homeopathy.



Ministry of AYUSH : 


The Department  of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H) which was created in March 1995 and renamed  as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy  (AYUSH) in November 2003 with a view to provide focused attention for  the development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani,  Siddha and Homoeopathy. Government of India formed this department as Ministry of AYUSH on 9th November' 2014.

Objectives to the ministry :


To upgrade the educational standards  of Indian Systems of Medicines and Homoeopathy colleges in the country.

To strengthen existing research institutions and  to ensure a time-bound research programme on identified diseases for which these  systems have an effective treatment.

To draw up schemes for promotion, cultivation and  regeneration of medicinal plants used in these systems.To evolve Pharmacopoeial standards for Indian Systems  of Medicine and Homoeopathy drugs.

In the modern stage AYUSH system is very necessary, because the Government is not sufficiently procure the infrastructure of modern general medical system. As well as before going to the main course in general medical system in some cases AYUSH system is fruitful and cost effective.

Presently the Government of India providing more stress about this system. The Government of West Bengal follow the same path and allowing Rs.50000 each district to celebrating National AYUSH day on 25th October 2019.


Gram Panchayat Level Dispensaries:


In West Bengal more 50% of Gram Panchayats has a dispensary on AYUSH system. However the Medical Officers of Ayurveda, Unani, Homoeopathy provide treatment and medicines under Panchayat and Rural Development Department. Government of West Bengal. An average of 25 to 35 patients every day treated by the Panchayat Doctors in different Gram Panchayat level dispensaries attached with Gram Panchayat or health centers. Not only that some places it cover more than 50 to 60 patients also be treated in the interior places where the general treatment facilities not in the reach for the poor and marginalized people. Monthly 350 to 400 patients treated and provided medicine from a center.

It is assessed that the women patients is more than male patient in those dispensaries run by the Panchayats.

In this year National AYUSH day will celebrating with different activities like rally, mass awareness, lectures, discussions and health camps around the state involving the various line departments and Panchayat.


Under the AYUSH system total 49464 nos of registered medical practitioners providing treatment to the patient every day in different places covering the total state of West Bengal.
